Industrial Liquid chiller –
Liquid Cooling for Diverse Applications

Efficient and reliable chilled water recooling system

Industrial liquid chillers are used in numerous industrial applications - from laser machining and milling to injection molding of plastics. The devices often work with water, which absorbs the process heat and releases it again in the cooler. In some areas, cooling is also based on oils or emulsions.

Because machines in industry often operate for long periods without interruption, chillers must provide fluids continuously and evenly. At the same time, many modern high-performance lasers and machine tools require precise adjustment of the cooling temperature. Since the installation space in the machine area is also usually limited, the chillers should also provide their performance in the smallest possible space.

HYFRA's liquid industrial chillers are precisely designed to meet the high demands of modern industrial processes. The cooling water recirculating chillers of the HYFRA Sigma series, for example, cover the cooling requirements of many industries with capacities ranging from 5 kW to 320 kW (1.5 tons to 92 tons). With their modern plate heat exchangers and compressors operating at optimum efficiency, they are particularly efficient. Thanks to their small footprint, the units can also be easily integrated into a wide variety of production environments. Chillers with an output of up to 28 kW (7.5 tons) require only 0.5 m² of floor space. Up to an output of 80 kW (22.5 tons), the units manage with 1 m², and for more powerful chillers the space requirement is 2 m² (up to 160 kW/45 tons) or 4 m² (up to 320 kW/90 tons). For larger cooling capacities, the Sigma series chillers can be linked together in a modular fashion. The HYFRA Sigma c model also impresses with its particularly low overall height.

The HYFRA eChilly/eChilly+ series chillers are even more compact. They combine footprints of 0.3 m² to 0.6 m² with low overall heights of 37 cm to 52 cm (15 inches to 21 inches). With these dimensions, they fit into a wide variety of machine layouts, where they cool a wide range of processes with outputs from 1 kW to 6 kW (3,500 Btu/hr to 20,500 Btu/hr). In addition to their performance, the Mini-chillers also impress with their robust design and solid housing. This means they are well protected even in harsh environments.

Innovative chiller with numerous options

With refrigeration technology from HYFRA, users benefit from various innovative functions. Units with FleXX technology control the performance of components such as the compressor, fan or expansion valve based on the cooling requirements of the application. In this way, the chillers require up to 30% less energy and their refrigerant demand is also significantly reduced. In addition, this technology allows the temperature to be controlled extremely precisely with accuracies of up to 0.1 K. The innovative microchannel technology, in combination with state-of-the-art plate heat exchangers, also reduces refrigerant requirements by up to 70 %. Compared to basket chillers, the current heat exchangers in the HYFRA Sigma series are also lighter and take up less space.

In order to match the cooler to the respective application, HYFRA works closely with the customer in selecting and setting up the industrial cooling units. The units can be extensively configured with numerous equipment options for a wide variety of applications. Alternatively, HYFRA's engineers can also develop a completely customized refrigeration solution at the customer's request. In this way, even users with special requirements receive a suitably tailored system. From conception to commissioning, HYFRA provides all services from a single source, thus ensuring rapid project implementation. Should the requirements for the refrigeration solution change fundamentally at a later date, HYFRA adapts the chillers precisely to the new conditions with modification kits.

FAQs

Which machines and plants use industrial chillers with liquid?

Water-based recirculating chillers are used in numerous industrial applications. For example, they provide temperature control for the optical elements of a laser machine or for cooling the spindle of a machine tool. Industrial chillers with liquid cooling also dissipate heat from machining processes and remove heat associated with the injection molding of plastics. Small recirculating chillers are also well suited for use in laboratories.

What are the advantages of recooling with water?

Water is a proven coolant for industrial processes. This medium can absorb heat well, store it and release it back into the environment. At the same time, it is usually readily available. Since the liquid is reused in recooling, the technology also works in a resource-saving way. The possibility of spatially separating heat absorption and release also ensures flexibility in machine layout.
